Kyle is a firefighter for the Kirkland Fire Department, and has been since February 2005. He received his CrossFit Level I certification and ACE Certification (American Council of Exercise) in October of 2008. He is also a certified physical trainer for the Kirkland Fire Department. He has been training solely in CrossFit for the last four years and absolutely loves it! Kyle has always been an avid athlete with an extreme passion for fitness. Whether it was soccer, cross country, wrestling, or tennis. Kyle has also completed two marathons, the Seattle to Portland bicycle ride in one day, and a half ironman distance duathalon (bike/run). He feels that CrossFit training has gotten him in the best shape he has ever felt. One of the things that he loves the most about CrossFit is how you can get an incredible workout in just 20 minutes. The other is the community in this CrossFit gym. In no other gym do you get to workout with and train with such an awesome group of people. It makes working out so much more fun and helps push you to continuously be better.

Hi! I started CrossFit in 2009 after my husband, Kyle, introduced me to it. I had, forever, been the girl who preferred to lift weights (although you might look at me and not think so!), and hated the elliptical and treadmill which was what all the women did around me. As soon as Kyle told me to do one 4 minute workout, I was so impressed how I was so sore from just 4 minutes of work rather than an hour at the gym. After joining a crossfit gym, it became my perfect fit. It was a way for me to stay strong by lifting weights, but also incorporate the things I didn’t like to do (like running and rowing!) to get a well-rounded workout. I had always hated going to the gym and wondering what in the world I was going to do. This gave me a way of being told what to do and not have to think or be bored from the same routine. I loved having the feeling of being “part” of something. At the gym I felt so alone. In a crossfit gym, I felt like I could go see my new buddies all the time!

After 6 months of doing CrossFit, Kyle and I were blessed with the opportunity to pursue  opening a CrossFit gym. We opened in December 2009, and besides being one of the scariest things to do….it is, honestly, one of the best things that has ever happened to us. I received my Level 1 cert in October 2010, and have been teaching ever since. With CrossFit, I have been able to not only get in the best shape of my life, learn crazy awesome new things about health and diet (which was contrary to what I learned in getting my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition!), but have experienced one of the truly best things about CrossFit, our community. Our members have so incredibly impacted my life and it’s amazing to be able to walk in every day and workout with your a second family. It’s really the unique blessing of CrossFit. CrossFit has helped me through eating issues and find a new reality of what is beautiful. It has also given me something to work hard at every day. You can always be better, and I love making new goals and achieving things that I truly never could think I could do. The even better thing of achieving goals, is helping our members achieve theirs. It’s truly the best job ever. And to see so many people, come in every day, works so hard, and then go home and share this new found fitness and health mentality with their kids and family, it’s so awesome and rewarding. I know CrossFit can be incredibly intimidating, as I felt the same way when I first started. However, I promise it can be a life changing experience once you get started, not just physically but mentally as well. I’m always an open book, so please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email if you ever have questions on anything!

My name is Nick Martindale also known as Nikoli in the Cascade Crossfit community. I’m the “clean freak” as everyone puts it. I started my journey in Crossfit back in January of 2010. I started as a member at Cascade when my brother introduced me to it. Huge reality check! I was the wrestling coach at Chief Kanim at the time and thought I was in shape, I wasn’t. It was the closest thing to wrestling I had ever done and I missed that. After becoming more involved, I decided to get my Level One certification and begin my coaching career at Cascade Crossfit. After coaching for some time an opportunity came up for me to be a part owner. I was more than thrilled to take the offer. I had gone to school and grown up with both Kyle and Tennyson. I wrestled and played soccer with Kyle through high school and was always in some sort of sport growing up. I have always enjoyed being active but above all I enjoy just hanging out with and getting to know all of the members.

The community at Cascade is what I enjoy most about what I do. There isn’t a day that goes by that someone doesn’t make me smile. I feel so lucky to do what I do and plan on doing it for a long time. When I’m not at the gym I stay busy as a Volunteer/Full Time Firefighter in Fall City where I live. This is another career I am passionate about. I also do carpentry for my brothers millwork and cabinetry company when I have any extra time to help out. If you see me in the gym, please come say hello. I love getting to know people outside of just exercising.

I have been with Cascade CrossFit since 2011 and have been coaching since 2012. I was introduced to CrossFit after two years of body-building. Realizing my health wasn’t where I was wanting it to be, I decided I needed a change. I began finding CrossFit style workouts on my own and was doing them at my gym, and I was extremely miserable. I knew of Cascade CrossFit and decided to jump in on a workout. 18 pull-ups in, I knew I was at home! I have spent the majority of my life exercising, and have spent the last six years coaching athletes. I work part time as a Juvenile Corrections Officer at a detention center in Snoqualmie. I also am a volunteer EMT for the Snoqualmie Fire Department and am aspiring to be a career firefighter. CrossFit has made me discover new things about myself and has made me into an entirely different person for the better! I am stronger, healthier, and all around more fit. Most importantly, I have discovered a second family, which makes this whole journey even better!

Cody is a career firefighter with the Fall City Fire Department with a strong passion for both health and fitness. He was introduced to CrossFit with the opening of Cascade CrossFit in January of 2010. It was just after the completion of his first WOD that his strong addiction to CrossFit had begun. Since then, Cody has found himself constantly researching into the CrossFit community to continue learning about all the great attributes it has to offer. He has grown up playing sports; stays active outdoors, competes in firefighting events, and finds self-motivation in continuing to train for better health. Cody received his Level 1 Certification in October of 2010, and looks forward to sharing his passion, and motivating others in the CrossFit community. He’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet and we are so thankful for what he brings to the Cascade CrossFit family!

I have always been active since a young age. I played soccer, ran track and cross country and played in many other local recreational leagues. I graduated from Bellevue College in Spring of 2014 with an Associates degree in Arts in Science while also focusing on Exercise Science. Fitness and health are an absolute passion of mine and I truly love helping people reach their goals. I also am a volunteer firefighter with the Fall City Fire Dept with the hopes of being a career firefighter one day. I started at Cascade CrossFit a few years ago. From my own experience, I can say that Cascade is an excellent source of support for any individual that has a desire to be physically fit and live a healthy lifestyle. I am thankful to be a part of their community and I am inspired with the opportunity to train our members.  My experience at Cascade has positively influenced my goals as an athlete, and I passionate about helping others within our community reach their own goals of health and fitness. The community at Cascade is impressive,  I am excited for all of our member’s to have the chance to be in such a place with positive support and consistent motivation. I am sincerely appreciative to be working with incredible people! The coaches at Cascade are genuinely caring and are dedicated to helping you reach success-  I am proud to be a part of their staff.

I grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.  I graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a Bachelor degrees in both Nursing and Kinesiology. While at UNLV, I was a four year letter-winner on the varsity softball team. I came to Seattle as a Registered Nurse and landed a job in the Emergency Department at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.  I started CrossFit in 2010 when a friend introduced her to the sport and was instantly hooked. I obtained her Level One Certification and started coaching, part-time, right away. I’ve competed on a team for the Northwest Regionals in 2012, 2013, and 2014. CrossFit allows me to have a competitive outlet beyond my college athletics. I love the positive attitude and motivating aspects the CrossFit Community brings. In my free time, I volunteer for a youth fast pitch softball club.  I snow ski, water ski, runs half marathons, and hope to bike the Seattle to Portland one day.  Actually, I’ll pretty much do anything to take advantage of the amazing Pacific Northwest with my husband, and fellow Cascade CrossFit coach, Paul Zavaglia (whom I met at a CrossFit competition!)

I found crossfit back in early 2008 and after my first workout I was hooked. I used crossfit to train for collegiate rugby at the UW.  I have been coaching since mid 2008 and have competed every year since I started, including winning the 2009 affiliate cup.  My specific areas of interest in coaching are movement/ mobility and Olympic weightlifting.  When I’m not in the gym, I am a full time firefighter in Pierce County and when I’m off duty I can be found hanging out with my wife, Caitlyn, and our lil pooch Maverick in good ‘ole Fall City.  I love what crossfit has done for me, not only in preparing me for college rugby, but also for the rigors of being a fireman.  I really enjoy achieving new goals but not as much as I enjoy seeing our members achieve theirs.  From crossfit introducing me to my wife, to getting me into the best shape of my life, crossfit has really positively influenced my life.

I’ve been a strength coach and personal trainer for fifteen years and have had a passion for personal growth, working out, and setting goals in the gym since the age of five! I served four and a half years as a Special Operations Soldier in the US Army and have since pursued my passion for physical fitness through personal training. I have had some amazing opportunities as a coach, including being the USA Women’s Junior All American Rugby Team head strength and conditioning coach and training NFL athletes such as Marcus Trufant and Roy Lewis. I truly love helping people achieve personal health and fitness goals. What I love about CrossFit is its ability to change a person’s life while involving them in a healthy and supportive community. I am more excited when one of my athletes achieves a PR, than when I do.  There is just something about believing in someone more than they do and then seeing them realize their own potential.  I also love helping people make lifestyle changes that affect their spouse and kids.  I feel like I have just helped save a family.  Coaching has always been a passion of mine and I have always found it more fulfilling then my personal training. –Aside from his tremendous background, he is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet and we are beyond grateful to have him as a part of the Cascade Family!

I’ve been here at Cascade CrossFit since September 2014 starting as a
member and am excited to now be coaching! I started weightlifting and
working out through wrestling in high school. Although I enjoyed wrestling
very much my favorite part of practice was always weightlifting. I was
hooked throughout high school and was more than excited to continue my
working out here at Cascade after I graduated. Since I graduated high
school I have been a full time student at Bellevue College getting an
associates in Bioengineering. One of my favorite parts about Crossfit is
that it serves as a competitive outlet for me. After four years of varsity
wrestling, I was sure I was pretty fit… until I later worked out next to
some of the members here at Cascade. Since the day I started Crossfit I
have wanted to be a coach. My favorite part of the high school weight room
was helping my friends and some of the younger kids out with the technique
of the lifts and the programming that they were doing. It’s very exciting
for me to see someone excel in something they are working hard at, which is
why I love coaching here at Cascade.
